Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: This is the second time my friend and I stayed in this ryokan - this time we brought a visitor from the US to show her Unzen and its beauty. The hotel itself is comfortable and wonderful, and the location is hard to beat - right in front of a small mountain lake. The food is always excellent and this time the American visitor didn't eat fish so the hotel was able to substitute all her fish dishes for non-fish dishes. Everyone really enjoyed our time there, thank you so much!

Negative: Honestly the only issue with this hotel that I've ever had was that the pillows are "buckwheat" pillows stuffed with hollow plastic shells. But even though I dislike the feel, I always find I sleep on them much better than I expect to. They may be a challenge for people who are stomach or side sleepers, though.

Summary: Another great stay at Azumaen! We will be back.
